The foundation of original glass secondary school dates to the end of the 1960s, when a new glass factory was built in Světlá nad Sázavou. The school was designed in a monumental way, concerning the size and equipment. Originally, apprentice students were trained only in glass-cutting and glass processing. Nowadays, the school provides a lot of branches where students are taught to process various materials, not only glass, but also ceramics, metals, stone and wood. An increasing number of students is taught and trained in industrial and interior design and artistic processing of all above mentioned materials.
Our school offers a wide range of quality education in various fields: apprenticeship (three- year courses), artistic processing of glass and other materials (four- years study programme) and vocational school (tertiary education focusing on industrial production of glass, ceramics and stone). Students can also study for a bachelor degree in glass and ceramics restoration
(in cooperation with Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague).
All the modern equipment as well as professional teacher staff help students to be skillful and creative. Our students can also benefit from the possibility of working with various materials and their combination.
Our school regularly holds students exhibitions, ensures educational exchanges, plain air paintings and cooperates with universities and companies.
